Sylvies Early Learning Centre Privacy Policy


1. Purpose
1.1 This Privacy Policy applies to Sylvie’s Early Learning Centre (referred to as “the Centre”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and outlines our commitment to protecting the privacy of personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). It details how we manage personal and sensitive information related to children, parents, guardians, employees, and other individuals interacting with our services.


2. Information Collection
2.1 Personal Information: We collect personal information necessary for the operation of our Centre and the provision of our child care services. This may include, but is not limited to, names, addresses, contact details, dates of birth, enrolment details, attendance records, government identifiers, financial information, photographs, and health information.
2.2 Sensitive Information: We may also collect sensitive information as defined under the APPs, including racial or ethnic origins, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information.
2.3 Sylvies Early Learning CentreĀ seeks to collect sensitive information with your permission. However, please note that we are required to collect some sensitive information under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.


3. Information Use
3.1 The personal information collected is primarily used for administering enrolments, providing child care services, managing our employees, processing payments, and complying with legal obligations. Health information is used to cater to the individual needs of children for their well-being and safety.
3.2 We store personal information securely and take reasonable steps to protect it from unauthorized access, modification, loss, or misuse, employing both physical and electronic safeguards. Access to this information is limited to authorised personnel.
3.3 We may send you information related to our education and care services. You may request not to receive direct marketing communications and we will not send you materials if you have asked us not to.


4. Disclosure
4.1 Personal information may be disclosed to third parties in specific circumstances, including to government agencies for funding and compliance purposes, to health service providers for the care and well-being of children, and as legally required. We will not disclose sensitive information without consent unless required by law.
4.2 We may disclose your personal information to companies that assist us with our business, for example credit report bodies, legal representatives, collection agencies, information technology providers, mailing houses. Some service providers we use may be located outside of Australia or use systems that are located outside of Australia. We will take reasonable steps to enquire that the service providers comply with the Australian Privacy Principles.


5. Rights and Access
5.1 Individuals have the right to access the personal information we hold about them and to request correction of incorrect information. Requests for access or correction should be directed to our Privacy Officer. We endeavor to process such requests within 28 days.


6. Complaints
6.1 If there are concerns about a breach of this Privacy Policy or the APPs, complaints can be directed to our Privacy Officer. We take complaints seriously and aim to resolve them quickly and fairly.
